A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week:

Two petty thefts occurred at the Shell gas station, at 23502 Newhall Avenue. One on Wednesday the 8th, the other on Saturday the 11th.

A Lady’s purse was stolen at the Newhall library on Monday the 13th. The purse was left unattended for a short period of time. When the victim returned, it was gone.

Often crimes are committed because opportunity presents itself. Sometimes because we are comfortable in our surroundings, we become complacent. It’s important for us all to be vigilant in protecting ourselves and our personal property. Crime prevention is much easier than recovering from a loss or an assault.

On Thursday the 16th, a theft occurred at the “7-11” on Lyon’s Avenue and Apple Street.

A vehicle burglary occurred between Wednesday the 15th, and Thursday the 16th, in the 24200 block of Cary Court.

A Ford mustang was stolen from 23600 block of Newhall Avenue between Wednesday the 15th, and Thursday the 16th. The vehicle was recovered by LAPD Mission Division on Saturday the 18th, and had been stripped.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
