Two parolees from Bakersfield arrested in Valencia last week were arraigned on multiple charges including burglary on Monday.
Ronnie Wiley and Sidney Walker, both 26, were formally arraigned at Los Angeles Superior Court’s San Fernando courthouse, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station reported Wednesday.
Wiley, the driver who led deputies on a brief pursuit from the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall before crashing into a tree, was a twice-convicted felon on parole.
Wiley was charged with child endangerment, evading law enforcement, burglary and resisting/interfering with law enforcement.
He remains in custody, with bail set at $1.1 million for his new charges, and has a no-bail parole violation hold.
Walker remains in custody on charges of burglary and resisting/interfering with law enforcement. His bail is set at $155,000.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the two adult males were reported for “suspicious activity” at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall parking lot.
When SCV Sheriff’s deputies arrived to make contact, the suspects fled the scene, driving recklessly —ultimately crashing into a tree — and then taking off on foot.
One of the adults was quickly apprehended. The other suspect initially eluded capture but was later found by deputies hiding underneath a parked car just down the street.
