The former ARTree building was torn down last week to make room for a 42-room hotel in the heart of Old Town Newhall.
Hotel Luxen is being developed by Ikon Hospitality Group and will be located at 24219 Railroad Ave. The completion date is estimated to be summer of 2017, according to real estate broker Tim Crissman of Crissman Commercial Services.
The hotel will have two stories and a penthouse and will fit in with the Western, Victorian architecture planned for the rest of Old Town Newhall, said Ben Jarvis, an associate planner with the city of Santa Clarita.
A new restaurant will also be built on Main Street where a clothing store, Mirror Mirror, and a Thai restaurant was located. A name for the new establishment has not yet been decided.
“The new restaurant is a brew house,” said Jarvis. “There has been no submission for the new facade yet but we are excited about it.”
Two more small structures are set to be demolished to make space for the hotel, which officials hope will bring more tourism to the area.
“We are excited about the hotel,” said Jarvis. “We are looking forward to the new addition to Newhall.”
