[KHTS] – Coroner’s officials have identified the man who killed himself Jan. 5 in a Sand Canyon home that wasn’t his.
David Michael Ferris, 59 of Burbank, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a woman’s home in the 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road.
Homicide Bureau detectives who were called to the scene to investigate believe Ferris broke into the home, lit candles and left pictures of himself, and then committed suicide.
The coroner determined the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a shotgun.
Shotgun shells were also found inside the home.
Upon returning home from a vacation, the homeowner noticed someone had been in her home.
The homeowner then left and called 911, according to initial reports. Deputies established a containment of the area to search for a possible suspect, he said.
After deputies began their investigation, a dead body was later discovered at the scene, officials said.
The homeowner was uninjured. Sheriff’s Homicide officials were not available to release any information about the relationship between the person who reportedly committed suicide and the homeowner.
Homicide detectives were contacted around 11 p.m., and the coroner confirmed the preliminary indications of a suicide.

Hmm wonder how much fuel they burned bringing those unnecessary armored vehicles
Hey, if I have an armed and obviously dangerous ahole in my house I’d be damn happy if they rolled up in those gas guzzlers. Safety first and they don’t need to become victims while they are trying to protect and serve. Not only that there have been many occasions when innocent people have been transported to safety in those types of vehicles during a dangerous event. Hope you never need a cop to save your armchair quarterback a**!

He’d been waiting for us in the house for 3 days and only shot himself after the police arrived.
