[Trinity] – The Trinity Knights Varsity Football (3-1), led by Coach Les Robinson, will play host to the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals (0-4) this Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. as they battle it out to claim the title of Faith Bowl Champion 2016. The inaugural event last year brought out more than 1,500 fans with the expectation that even more will attend Saturday.

The Trinity Knights and SCCS Cardinals pray together before the 2015 Faith Bowl.

“There has always been a sense of community with Santa Clarita Christian, and even though there is mutual respect and admiration among the coaches and players, the fans should still expect a great night of football,” said Dr. Matthew Dixon, Director of Athletics for Trinity Classical Academy. “The Faith Bowl also gives us the opportunity to partner with like-minded businesses and institutions in Santa Clarita. The Master’s UniversityChick-Fil-A, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, who are all sponsors for the Faith Bowl, will be on site to help make it be truly a special night for all in attendance.”

The Trinity Knights coaching staff continues to be top-notch under the direction of Coach Rob after the announcement of formerNFL Defensive Back Cletis Gordon of the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers last fall. Fred Lewis continues his role as the Defensive Coordinator, with Zack Schafer handling Special Teams, Kirk Morales supervising Wide Receivers and Geno Bernal taking care of the Offensive and Defensive Line.

The gates will open at 6:00 P.M. and admission is $5 a person. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will sponsor the pre-game activities that will be sure to entertain and amuse even the littlest of football fans. The Master’s University will have give-aways and host several activities throughout the Faith Bowl that will entertain the fans and keep the energy high.

Trinity Jr. QB Tyler Lee (9) has thrown 362 yards and scored 5 touchdowns.

The 2016 Faith Bowl Championship Title, which went to the SCCS Cardinals last year, will be awarded to the winner of the game by Master’s University and the Faith Bowl MVP will be chosen by The Signal Sports staff.

To be sure everyone is well fed, the Valencia Chick-fil-A will be on-hand making several of their menu selections available for purchase, or families can pre-order their meals through Trinity’s online store the week prior.

The Trinity Knights Department of Athletics is guided by a commitment to excellence embodied in Christ-like core values: Integrity, Camaraderie and Victory. Over the course of the last decade, Trinity Athletics has grown to over 50 teams in fourth through twelfth grade and has athletic clinics to foster player development for students in transitional kindergarten through third grade. With two CIF titles and several athletic scholarships awarded from four-year colleges, the Trinity Knights now face higher levels of competition in both football and basketball, which will lead to further success for athletes.

Trinity Classical Academy is a coeducational, college preparatory, independent, liberal arts transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade school that was founded in 2001 with 28 students on the classical, Christian educational model. With enrollment over 565 students, Trinity is one of the largest classical, Christian schools in the country. The mission of Trinity Classical Academy has remained consistent: to offer a challenging education, grounded in the Christian faith and the classical tradition, to produce young men and women of virtue, wisdom, purpose and courage.
