Tyler Coombes scored five goals as the Santa Clarita Storm overcame an early deficit to defeat the San Diego Monsoon 9-1 Saturday at Harry Welch Stadium in Canyon Country.
The Storm improved to 1-0-1 in National Premier Soccer League play.
The Monsoon took the lead just three minutes into the game as Cesar Meyica slipped past the defense and Keeper Steven Rodriguez.
But three minutes later, Coombes took a pass from Stephen Martines and blasted a shot from the right side of the keeper to the far post to knot the score at one.
Andres Bueno added two goals with Martines and Martin Galvan getting a goal apiece.
