Frank Ferry

Councilman Frank Ferry, who was first elected to the Santa Clarita City Council in 1998, announced Friday he will not run for re-election in 2014.

“I love this community and going into the next election cycle, I really reflected on what I have done for community service the past 16 years,” said Ferry. “So much that has been accomplished the last 16 years and I felt like OK this last year I will just celebrate it and go out on top.”

Some of the things Ferry was involved in creating in the valley were the Cross Valley Connecter, the Sports Complex, Central Park and the Newhall Library.

Ferry is grateful for the opportunity that he has had to serve the community for 16 years.

“I want to thank the City Council, I want to thank the community, city staff and all of the community leaders that have just been awesome over the past 16 years,” said Ferry. “I’m excited for what the next chapter in my life brings and I will always be a part of this community.”

Ferry said he has a busy family life. His youngest son is graduating from Valencia High School, his oldest son is a junior in college and he is planning to get married this summer, so he felt that this was the right time.

“I think this is the best decision for me and my family,” Ferry said.
