Flash Flood Watch in Effect Wednesday PM to Friday AM

A flash flood watch will be in effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 5 a.m. due to heavy rain expected over the next couple of days, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Flash flooding and mud and debris flows are likely in and around recent burn areas. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. One of the concerns in Santa Clarita is the Sand Fire burn area.

There is a chance that the flash flood watch areas will be expanded to include other areas outside of recent burn areas during the peak of the storm system Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

“Rainfall is expected to range from 2 to 4 inches across coastal and valley areas,” according to the National Weather Service.

Remember, if you are driving and come across a flooded area – turn around, don’t drown. People often underestimate the force and power of water. It is NEVER safe to drive into flood waters.
