The Los Angeles County Fire Department Hazmat Team responded to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station after an individual brought in a envelope that supposedly made him ill Saturday afternoon.
The individual called the SCV Sheriff’s Station saying he received a letter with white residue in it that made him ill, said Sgt. Brian Allen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
The white residue was identified as glitter, said Allen.
“He brought it in and set it on our counter, shutting down the station and prompting a hazmat rollout,” said Allen.
The SCV Sheriff’s Station lobby was closed off as well as the outside of the individual’s vehicle, Allen said.
No untoward product was immediately found in the envelope, said Battalion Chief William McCloud.
“We’re just being overly cautious right now, just in case,” said McCloud.
