Ex-youth basketball coach Jeremy Andre Haggerty was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in state prison for sexually assaulting teenage boys who either played on his teams or were trained by him, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
In May, Haggerty (dob 7/17/84) pleaded no contest to six counts of lewd act upon a child and three counts of sexual battery, all felonies. A judge also ordered lifetime sex offender registration for the defendant.
Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson of the Sex Crimes Division prosecuted the case.
Haggerty worked as a basketball coach at several schools, including two in the Santa Clarita Valley, as well as a personal basketball trainer. Over the course of nearly a decade, Haggerty sexually assaulted nine teenage boys.
Case BA471268 was investigated by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
