The William S. Hart Union High School District Governing Board of Education is seeking interested candidates for appointment to the Personnel Commission for the term commencing December 1, 2014.
The Personnel Commission consists of three members, one appointed by the Governing Board, one appointed by the classified employees, and one appointed by these two seated Commissioners. Each Commissioner serves a three-year term of office.
The Personnel Commission meets on a monthly basis. Each Commissioner receives a $50.00 stipend for his/her monthly meeting attendance.
The Personnel Commission is responsible for rules to administer the classified (non-teaching) service which promotes the selection and retention of employees based on merit. Its guiding principle is to serve as an impartial body free from bias or the influence of any special interest group, and the commission is ultimately responsible in seeing that all matters affecting the work lives of employees in the classified service are handled in a just manner.
A candidate for Personnel Commissioner cannot be an employee of the district, must be a registered voter and resident within the territorial jurisdiction of the school district, and a known adherent to the principle of the merit system.
