Members of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Auxiliary were honored for their years and hours of service at the hospital’s Annual Recognition reception on May 8.

During the event, a check for $80,000 was presented to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation toward the Auxiliary’s pledged support for the new patient tower.

Money raised by the hospital gift shop along with annual events contributed to the donation. The donation was accepted by Foundation President Marlee Lauffer.

“The Auxiliary is a key partner in so many of our fundraising efforts,” Lauffer said. “It’s inspiring to see the Auxiliary take on so many fundraising activities and provide such a significant gift. The new patient tower will be a tribute to the many volunteers who share in our goal of excellence in patient care both with the donation of their time and the raising of money.”

During the reception, longtime Henry Mayo volunteer Jim Brush was recognized by the Auxiliary for his outstanding dedication and commitment to the community and for his support for the hospital.

To date, Brush has contributed 4,292 service hours to Henry Mayo over the last 13 years and was named an Honorary Auxiliary Life Member at the event. Santa Clarita City Councilman Bill Miranda also recognized Brush on behalf of the city.

2018 Auxiliary president Mimi Baum was also honored for her leadership during her time of service. Baum, who is also the 2019 Auxiliary president, has volunteered at the hospital for more than four years, has clocked more than 2,500 hours, and has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1987.

The Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Auxiliary was founded 56 years ago, and its mission is “to render service to the hospital, to its patients, and to assist the hospital in promoting the health and welfare of the community in accordance with the objectives established by the hospital.”
