A new art gallery in Santa Clarita. I ask you: Is it possible?

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association has created a fundraising plan to raise money for the purpose of renting or leasing property for two years in a suitable location for an art gallery to be used to exhibit members’ artwork.

Did you know there are no art galleries in Santa Clarita? Not one. There was one next to the Hyatt Hotel a few years ago, and then there was one on Sierra Highway. All gone now.

An art gallery can provide the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley a place to view many styles of original art that have been created by local artists.

When the Artists’ Association has created its own art gallery, it will provide art workshops for adults and children in painting, drawing and art demonstrations.

Scholarships are offered for high school seniors who plan to attend college and major in the area of art.

Receptions and special events will be planned to provide the community with different kinds of art lectures, enjoy live entertainment and talk with professional artists.

A committee has been formed to gather information to make an art gallery happen.

Help the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association take the critical step in establishing an art gallery that will serve the community.

Your interest and support in creating the art gallery will be appreciated.

Maybe if you were a serious business association and conducted business in a professional matter. An artist from my studio had joined an supported your organization only to have his paintings stolen from your “gallery” because of carelessness, and an unprofessional business manner. If you are fund raising, maybe you should replace the loses of the artists who have lost being a member of your organization.

This town doesn’t have (or will support) one serious culinary destination, be it a restaurant or grocer. No support for public art. Hardly any art in school curriculums. Good luck with a gallery.
