Victim Teofilo “JoJo” Navales of Castaic
It took a jury less than two hours of deliberation Thursday to find 34-year-old Ka Pasasouk guilty of murdering four people outside a Northridge apartment complex in December 2012.
One of the victims was 49-year-old Teofilo “JoJo” Navales (pictured) of Ridge Top Lane in Castaic. Navales left behind a wife and three daughters.
Also killed were Robert Calabia, 34, of Los Angeles; Amanda Ghossein, 24, of Monterey Park; and Jennifer Kim, 26, of Montebello.
The four were found face-down outside of a multi-family home in the 17400 block of Devonshire Street on Dec. 2, 2012, after witnesses reported hearing gunfire at 4:25 a.m.
Pasasouk was arrested the next day at Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, along with three suspected accomplices.
Prosecutors identified Pasasouk as the lone gunman. Deputy District Attorney Dan Akemon said Pasasouk committed the murders to silence witnesses.
On Thursday, Pasasouk was additionally convicted of one count of attempted murder, five counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
He had previously served time in state prison and was released in January 2012 as a “low-level, non-violent felon,” 11 months prior to the execution-style slayings.
The jury is scheduled to return on the third anniversary of the murders to begin the penalty phase. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

I hope he rots on death row
What? No one cares that the murderer was supposed to still be in prison????? The state keeps letting them out early to save a buck. What’s it going to take? You have no clue what is happening. Take a look at the crime statistics after AB 109 and proposition 47. The cops are not doing anything to stop crime because their bosses are firing them if they are seen on video arresting someone. I’m moving out of this state! Good luck to all the victims!
