Representative Steve Knight (CA-25) announced Friday that he will serve on three Committees in the 115th Congress, each with a direct tie to the communities in California’s 25th Congressional District. Congressman Knight will focus on local interests in Congress.

Knight was selected to serve on the House Committees on Small Business, House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, and House Armed Services Committee. The Congressman was a member of all three committees in the previous Congress, and he feels they align with the interests of the district he represents.

“I am excited to serve on these three committees once again, as they’re a perfect fit for our region,” said Rep. Knight. “We are in a unique position because we are home to a tremendous amount of small businesses that work in fields related to defense, science and aerospace. I look forward to continuing our work in these committees to expand opportunities in our community.”

Knight’s committee assignments helped him to pass bills that have substantial impacts on the local economy in his first term of Congress. Examples of this were the Small Business Joint Venturing Act, which allows small businesses to form joint ventures and work together to obtain and fulfill government contracts, and the Energy Contracting Opportunities Act, which would give smaller and newer energy companies, including those that work with renewable sources like solar and wind, more opportunities to compete for government contracts to reduce the government’s taxpayer-funded energy bill.

“Our focus will continue to be on improving the lives of people in our communities,” continued Knight. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on my committees to find new and innovative ways to do exactly that.”
