Zack Davis returned to the Valencia boys basketball team just in time for a crucial game before Foothill League play begins next week.
Davis scored 17 points in Valencia’s 55-45 win over Clovis North, the reigning Central Section Division II champion.
Davis was making his first start since Dec. 10. He was out with an ankle injury.
Troy Hammel heated up late in the game and matched Davis with 17 points.
Clovis North is still in town and will take on Saugus tonight at 7.
The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team made easy work of the San Fernando Valley Academy, 68-45.
Senior James Brooks scored 24 points and was 10-of-18 from the the field.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team didn’t fare so well against Frazier Mountain, losing 53-39.
Chris Fechtelkotter scored a team-high 14 points for Santa Clarita Christian.
In high school soccer, the Santa Clarita Christian boys played to a 2-2 draw against Frazier Mountain. Jeremy Harris and Chad Latch scored for Santa Clarita Christian.
College of the Canyons kicker Jeff Flores was selected to the All-California Community College football team. The sophomore led COC in scoring with 66 points, converting on 36-of-37 extra points and was 10-for-14 on field goals.
In hockey, the Kings shut out the Phoenix Coyotes, 1-0 in overtime, on a goal by Drew Doughty.
Jonathan Quick recorded his NHL-leading sixth shutout of the season and notched the 20th shutout of his career.
