[KHTS] – Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested a suspect on Wednesday in the Wal-Mart parking lot who was wanted in connection with a non-fatal stabbing that occurred Tuesday.
Grant Chiavassa, 22, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in lieu of $110,000 bail, according to arrest records.
Chiavassa was riding his bicycle when deputies noticed he fit the description of a man who was wanted for an alleged stabbing the previous day, said Sgt. Ronald Price with the Robbery and Assaults Team.
Deputies identified Chiavassa, despite being given a false name, with a passport that he was carrying on his person, said Sgt. Price.
Sheriff’s deputies began their search for Chiavassa on Tuesday after they received a report that a man had been stabbed at his home by his son, Sgt. Price said.
A containment area was established in the neighborhood where Chiavassa was thought to be located but he was able to evade capture, said Sgt. Price.
Witnesses said that Chiavassa stabbed his father who was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries to his hand.
Chiavassa is expected to appear at the San Fernando Courthouse on Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m..

Is this the guy that stabbed his dad?
Where is the news about the woman who was found murdered in Castaic on Saturday morning?
She was a victim of domestic violence and now is dead.
She was my daughter’s friend and it would be nice if the woman’s hometown at least reported her death. Not much in the Signal either.
