[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating a possible assault, after a concerned citizen helped deputies track down a man who sustained head injuries but didn’t know how he got hurt.
A Santa Clarita resident notified Sheriff’s Station officials around 6:30 a.m. April 4 on Valencia Boulevard near Cinema Drive after the informant noticed a pool of wet blood, an iPhone and a leather belt on the side of the road.
Deputies responded to scene and began an investigation without knowing who the victim was, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
Deputies were contacted by workers at a nearby car dealership, who said a homeless man on the other side of the parking lot was seen with obvious head injuries.
The man was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
But the victim was unable to provide any details of the apparent assault, or any indication of the assailants.
The man was treated for severe head injuries, but there was no trauma to indicate he was in a fight, according to a Sheriff’s Station report of the incident.
The incident is being investigated by Detective Painter of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Anyone who might have information about the incident is asked to contact him at 661-255-1121.
