Theophane Korie
The Saugus Union School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Theophane Korie as the new principal of Santa Clarita Elementary School.
Korie replaces Dianne Saunders, who was recently appointed new principal of Tesoro del Valle Elementary School.
Korie has worked for the past 17 years in the Compton Unified School District as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and administrator on special assignment responsible for the implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and two master’s degrees, one in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from the University of Lagos in Nigeria, and the other in Educational Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Saugus Union Superintendent Dr. Joan Lucid said: “Mr. Korie will bring a strong background of data-based instructional leadership and decision-making to Santa Clarita Elementary and to the Saugus Union School District.”
Santa Clarita Elementary is the oldest school in the Saugus Union School District. Said Board President Paul De La Cerda: “Santa Clarita has a strong tradition of superior student achievement, robust parent involvement, and a focus on science integration across the curriculum. We feel Mr. Korie will not only continue these traditions, but push them to the next level.”
Korie will begin in his new role Monday, Sept. 22.
