Newhall, Zone 6
Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Snapshot for 01/14/2013 through 01/20/2013
Year-to-date Newhall has had fewer reported Part-1 crimes then this same period last year. We are off to a great start in 2013 and one of my goals is that we have fewer Part-1 crimes occur in Newhall this year than we had in 2012.
This week Newhall (Zone 6) had ten reported Part-1 crimes. Of those crimes, we had two incidents of shoplifting, one grand theft, two petty thefts, one vehicle stolen, one residential burglary, two vehicle burglaries, and one commercial burglary.
On Monday, 01/14/2013, at approximately 7:30 p.m. a shoplifting burglary was reported from the 7-11 located at 23406 Lyons Avenue. An unknown male Hispanic walked into the location, grabbed a case of beer and fled. A license plate was obtained off of the suspect’s vehicle and the investigation is ongoing (ref -00645)
On Wednesday, 01/16/2013, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. the victim reported his 2007 Harley Davidson was stolen from the 21200 block of Ficus Drive. The victim reported an unknown suspect stole his motorcycle while it was parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex. (ref -00747)
On Thursday, 01/17/2013, between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. a vehicle burglary was reported in the 25100 block of Markel Drive, Newhall. The victim’s purse was stolen from the back seat of her car after the window was broken. (ref -00769)
In last week’s crime prevention snapshot I spoke about an assault that had occurred that was classified as a gang-related incident. I am happy to report an arrest has been made and the primary suspect is in custody. Santa Clarita COBRA detectives are assigned to the incident.
Numerous arrests were made in Newhall during the past week. On Sunday, 01/20/2013, at approximately 2:15 a.m., deputies contacted a male in the area of 21300 Bottle Tree Lane, Newhall. The suspect had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. The suspect appeared to be very intoxicated. Ultimately the suspect was found to be in possession of concentrated cannabis. He was placed under arrest for possession of cannabis and for drunk and disorderly conduct. (ref -00903)
Remember to lock and secure your vehicles at all times. Do not leave personal items such as purses, wallets, bags, GPS, or cell phone in plain view inside your parked vehicles.
