The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with Los Angeles County, will host an open house event to inform local residents and businesses about the development of the Enhanced Watershed Management Plan (EWMP). The open house will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street.
Attendees will be informed of the concepts for the plan, which eventually will outline potential projects and programs designed to reduce pollution in the storm drain system that enters the Santa Clara River.
The Enhanced Watershed Management Plan open house will also highlight water quality standards imposed by the State, as well as potential locations of the projects and stakeholder involvement to determine the next steps. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required to attend.
On July 9, 2013, the Santa Clarita City Council authorized the City staff to develop an Enhanced Watershed Management Plan and Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Plan to comply with the Stormwater Permit. The action also authorized an agreement with Los Angeles County, to collaborate on plan development and share costs.
Residents can view the Enhanced Watershed Management Plan and the Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Plan documents at greensantaclarita.com. Residents can also view a recent This Week in Santa Clarita video detailing the EWMP open house.
