The annual “Fun in the Sun” Chili Cook-Off staged by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to benefit the Special Olympics is set for Saturday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. at the Jack Bones Equestrian Center in Castaic.
This year’s Chili Cook-Off will feature more than 25 chili competitors, as well as a Kid’s Zone, food and drink vendors, live music, games, retail vendors, a classic police car display, military displays and LASD displays.
Cookoff attendees purchase a “Chili Card” (pictured), which costs $15 for adults and $5 for juniors, to taste all of the chilis. Beverage tickets will be $1 each. Tickets will be available at the gate and in advance online.
Along with chili, hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and adult beverages will also be available for purchase.
All proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics Southern California, Santa Clarita and Tri-Valley Regions.
Sponsors include the county of Los Angeles, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, POPA Federal Credit Union, ALADS, the Magazine of Santa Clarita and KHTS-AM 1220/FM 98.1.
