Want to find out what it’s like to run a public school?
Register now for the 20th annual “Principal for a Day” event hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation in February, and you just may get your chance.
The foundation invites SCV residents to spend the morning of Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 shadowing a local public school principal or administrator, to learn first-hand about the challenges and rewards facing today’s educators.
Or, if you’d like to participate but can’t break away from your day job, you may sponsor a future educator from College of the Canyons’ TEACH program to take your place.
The morning will be followed by a catered luncheon for all participants. Local superintendents Robert Challinor, Joan Lucid, Jim Gibson, Robert Nolet and Marc Winger will speak on the “State of Our Public Schools” during lunch.
Registration is open now through Jan. 27. Applicants may choose to shadow an elementary school principal ($150), a junior high/middle school principal ($150), a high school assistant principal ($200), a high school principal ($300), an assistant superintendent ($350) and a superintendent ($400).
Participation is a tax-deductible donation to the SCV Education Foundation (Tax ID No. 95-4544948).
The SCV Education Foundation uses the proceeds to fund its Student Enrichment Awards and other programs designed to support students and education the community.
