[KHTS] – The Hart girls tennis team is in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.
The Indians face their toughest test of the season today.
Hart faces San Marino, the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and the Rio Hondo League champion.
Hart has yet to lose a match this season, a perfect 20-0. The Indians beat St. Margaret’s, 12-6, in the quarterfinals.
The Hart singles players swept their sets. Natalia Munoz won her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
The match between Hart and San Marino is at Hart High School this afternoon.
In high school volleyball, the Valencia girls won their first round playoff match in four games against St. Joseph of Lakewood.
Lindsey Knudsen had 17 kills and 15 digs for Valencia in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs.
The Hart girls lost to Redlands in five games in the first round of the Southern Section Division 1A playoffs.
Claire Cansler had 15 blocks in the match and set a school record with 130 blocks in her career at Hart.
West Ranch lost its first round playoff match in three games to San Juan Hills.
The Albert Einstein Academy girls volleyball team won its first CIF playoff match in school history. Einstein swept Shalhevet of Los Angeles in three games in the first round of the Southern Section Division 5A playoffs.
In basketball, The Master’s College men beat Cal Poly Pomona, 71-70. Derrick Fain scored 23 points and made seven 3-pointers for the Mustangs.
The Master’s College improved to 2-1.
In the NBA, the Lakers pounded the visiting New Orleans Pelicans, 116-95. Jordan Hill, making his first start of the season, scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds.
The Lakers are on their way to Denver for a game against the Nuggets tonight.
In the NHL, the Kings lost to the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2 in a shootout. The Kings outshot the Sabres, 45-17.
Goaltender Jonathan Quick left the game in the overtime period with an injury.
Next up for the Kings are the New York Islanders on Thursday.
