Golden Valley freshman Elisa Pierre and Hart’s Jamie Corr advanced to the CIF Southern Section girls golf final.

Pierre shot a 2-over 74 in the Northern Regional at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard to make the cut for the Southern Section final. Corr was one shot back, at 3-over 75. The cut was 78.

Sophia Chen from Thousand Oaks shot the low round of the match at River Ridge. She was 7-under at 65.

Six other golfers from the Foothill League played in the Northern Regional and did not make the cut. West Ranch’s Sarah Hong and Golden Valley’s Amanda Hobbs each shot 7-over 79s and missed the cut by one stroke.

Pierre and Corr will play in the Southern Section final at Western Hills Golf & Country Club in Chino Hills.

In high school tennis, Golden Valley’s Rebecca Ho won the Foothill League singles championship at The Paseo Club in Valencia.

She beat Hart’s Natalia Munoz, 6-3, 6-2, in  the championship match.

Valencia’s Ashley Keith and Tina Inchalik won the Foothill League doubles title. They beat West Ranch’s Sydney Schwartz and Hana El Arabi, 6-2, 6-3, in the championship match.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia girls beat Hart in five games and captured at least a share of the Foothill League championship.

The Vikings have won the league title in 10 of the past 11 years.

In high school football, the lead in the Foothill League standings is up for grabs tonight at Valencia High School.

Hart and Valencia both are undefeated in league with 3-0 records. Hart is ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll and has won seven games in a row.

Canyon will look to rebound after losing its first league game of the season. The Cowboys, ranked No. 8 in the Northern Division, plays West Ranch at Canyon High in the Power Valencia/BMW Game of the Week on SCVTV, debuting at 11 p.m.

Valencia is ranked No. 3 in the Northern Division and is the reigning Foothill League champion. Listen to the game between Hart and Valencia tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. Pregame starts at 7:15.

Saugus plays Golden Valley at College of the Canyons in a battle of winless teams in the Foothill League. Both teams are 0-3 against league opponents.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team plays Fairmont Prep at Canyon High on Saturday.

Trinity plays Lancaster Baptist at College of the Canyons on Saturday.

In the NBA preseason, the Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings, 94-82. The Lakers went 0-8 in the preseason.

In baseball, the San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigerts, 2-0, in Game 2 of the World Series. The Giants are up 2-0 and the series heads to Detroit for Game 3 on Saturday night.
