The West Ranch and Hart boys basketball teams needed rallies to win their Foothill League games on Friday night.
The Hart boys trailed Golden Valley by three points at halftime, but turned the game into a 75-50 blowout win.
The Indians outscored the Grizzlies, 46-18, in the second half and improved to 7-1 in the Foothill League standings.
Lewis Stallworth led the Indians with 28 points. He scored 18 in the second half.
The West Ranch boys basketball team also trailed at halftime against Saugus. The Wildcats took the lead in the third quarter and won the game, 58-47.
West Ranch is tied with Hart for first place in the Foothill League standings. Ako Kaluna scored a game-high 20 points for West Ranch.
The Canyon boys pulled off a low-scoring, upset over Valencia. The Cowboys won by one point, 37-36. Canyon’s Mark Bell scored 12 points.
In girls basketball, Canyon beat Valencia, 52-45. The Vikings lost their first Foothill League game of the season. Canyon and Valencia are tied for first place in the league standings with 7-1 records.
Alia McCoy scored 18 points for the Canyon girls.
The Hart girls beat Golden Valley, 71-58. Breze Kimble scored 25 points and had 14 rebounds for the Indians.
The West Ranch girls beat Saugus, 55-31.
In high school soccer, the West Ranch boys shut out Saugus, 1-0, to remain in first place in the Foothill League standings. Zack Sage scored for the Wildcats.
The Valencia boys shut out Canyon, 4-0.
Hart shut out Golden Valley, 4-0.
On the girls side, West Ranch shut out Saugus, 2-0, and won its first Foothill League game of the season. Lizet Pacheco and Ashley Goodin scored for West Ranch.
The Valencia girls beat Canyon, 7-2. Eryn Spencer scored three goals for the Vikings, who clinched at least a share of the Foothill League championship.
Hart beat Golden Valley, 2-1.
In football, the Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31, in the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
In the NBA, the Lakers escaped Detroit with a 98-97 win over the Pistons.
The Clippers weren’t as fortunate in Boston. They lost, 106-104, to the Celtics.
