[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man suspected robbing Walgreens with a shotgun for drugs, officials said Thursday.

crimezoneThe incident was reported at 12:20 p.m. Thursday at the Walgreens on Valley Street, and the suspect was detained around 2:30 p.m.

A man wearing a black motorcycle helmet to conceal his face walked into the pharmacy with a weapon, demanding drugs, which he stole before fleeing the scene, officials said.

“The man was allegedly demanding Xanax pills,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The informant said the man had a shotgun,” said Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The suspect was later found at his residence in Santa Clarita and surrendered without incident.  The suspect’s residence is still under investigation.

The man is currently at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station being booked on a charge related to the Walgreens robbery, Hahnlein said.

The incident is considered an active investigation, according to Sheriff’s Station officials. Deputies are still investigating what weapon, if any, the suspect used to commit the robbery.

Sheriff’s Station officials would not release the name of the man in custody. No other information is available at this time.

  1. Read the whole story. Apparently the guy stole xanax and then went home. “Surrendered without incident.” According to the interwebs, a xanax high makes you “not give a f**k”. There’s a moral there, somewhere.

I was just about to say that…

My wife spoke with the store that was robbed last week… As they all share this info among all stores to spread awareness…

Exact same, black motorcycle gear, went straight to pharmacy, pulled a gun and demanded zanax..!

I’m not sure why the sheriff’s excluded that info…

But it does sound like the same person..!

Also, I’m willing to bet this has a lot to do with zanax recently being switched to a schedule 2 drug…

It’s harder for abusers to get hold of now..!
