A man from Sylmar who was working on his pickup truck on the shoulder of a Highway 14 onramp in Canyon Country died Tuesday night when his vehicle rolled over him, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The deceased, Gerardo Silva, was stopped on the Via Princessa onramp for the southbound lanes, on the right shoulder, out of the path of the road.
He was under his vehicle performing a repair, and when the vehicle rolled backward, it fatally ran over him.
Silva was declared dead at 9:56 p.m. by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, according to CHP officials.
The death is still under investigation.
