USC junior forward Nikola Jovanovic was named honorable mention on the 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic Team it was announced by the conference today (March 24). To be selected, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Jovanovic is majoring in Business with a minor in French.
The native of Serbia was second in scoring average (12.1 ppg) and first in rebounding average (7.0 rpg) among Trojans this season. Jovanovic also made 52.4 percent of his shots this season and became the 36th Trojan to surpass the 1,000 career points scored mark, finishing the season with 1,063.
USC women’s basketball boasts two academic honorees with this season’s set of accolades to sophomore Sadie Edwards and junior Courtney Jaco. The two Trojans not only were high scorers for USC on the court, they also shined in the classroom. For their strong GPAs, Edwards and Jaco have earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
This is the second straight season for Courtney Jaco on the Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention list. A psychology major, Jaco holds a 3.03 GPA as a junior. Also an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention recipient this season, Jaco provided 10.1 points per game and nailed 72 threes while taking over the point guard position for much of the year.
In her first season of action as a Trojan after sitting out the past year as a transfer from UConn, Sadie Edwards was an impact player for USC this season while also touting a strong 3.19 GPA. She stood as USC’s third leading scorer with 11.3 points per game in her sophomore stint.
