On Monday, Sept. 26, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., parents can come by the LASD Santa Clarita Valley Youth Activities League (YAL), 30300 Arlington Rd., Val Verde, and pick up a free home drug test kit (while supplies last).
The free test is valued at $40 and checks for 12 drugs — seven illicit and five prescription — and comes with substance abuse prevention strategies and a family drug prevention plan.
With each new school year, kids are faced with many challenges, but nothing more serious than peer pressure to use drugs. Often times, a simple “no” isn’t enough to deflect peer pressure, that’s why Not MY Kid, a national non-profit organization, is partnering with the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation of Los Angeles County on their Annual Back to School Substance Abuse Prevention Campaign.
