Carolyn West of Santa Clarita set off on a journey almost three years ago with two other women and started a blogger network called SoCal Lady Bloggers. The idea was to bring local mothers together to inspire each other and learn from each other’s mistakes, successes and everything in between.  The group has flourished into a network of nearly 500 bloggers from all over Southern California.

After her third daughter was born, Carolyn began experiencing postpartum depression. Also, the passing of one of the founding members of SoCal Lady Bloggers started weighing on her, and she continued to struggle with her weight – which she says has gone up and down her whole life.

She is now bravely using her personal story to inspire her ever-growing community by spearheading a new program dubbed “The Mommy Movement.”

Carolyn has a new business partner and blog partner, Melissa Dell, and together, through SoCal Lady Bloggers, they are encouraging moms and mom bloggers to form teams of their friends and families to lose weight by following the tenets found in a new book, written by best-selling author Cynthia Stamper Graff, entitled “The New Lean for Life.”

The book offers a healthy way to lose 20 pounds of fat in four weeks, and best of all, keep it off in a healthy way. It’s backed by 40 years of clinical practice and scientific research.

Carolyn believes moms are the nucleus of their families; they influence everything from what a family eats to how active they are.  The Mommy Movement is not a flash-in-the-pan diet; it helps moms to establish healthier diets, habits and exercise within their families.

Teams have been established around So Cal, including the team in Santa Clarita (led by Carolyn), and they’re well on their way to making major lifestyle changes – and losing weight in the process.

Some of the tenets of the book:

* By consuming certain high-protein foods you can trick your brain into believing you are satisfied;

* Your gut has both good and bad bacteria (microflora) that, when properly balanced, set the stage for long-term weight loss;

* Watch portion sizes;

*Drink 8 glasses of water daily;

* Most diets create chaos and inflammation in the body. “The New Lean For Life” reveals the foods known to reduce inflammation, which also lower your risk of disease and increase your ability to keep weight off.
