smuggledmovie[Think Ten] – Santa Clarita Valley residents Ramon Hamilton and Jennifer Fischer’s small production company, Think Ten Media Group, is spreading it wings and successfully expanding it reach with its latest multi-award winning film and a new film program for youth.

This month the duo wraps a successful 6-week stretch with their latest film, SMUGGLED, a touching narrative drama that tells the story of a 9-year-old boy and his mother being smuggled into the U.S. beneath a tour bus. The film performed well on the festival circuit in 2012 with 5 “Best of” Awards and 15 selections. Over the last six weeks, the film will have screened eight different times at universities, colleges and independent film theaters throughout the country – with events in 4 different states. Writer/Director Ramon Hamilton has been at attendance at all of the events to discuss the film and is excited that this whirlwind tour will end in the Santa Clarita Valley as the SCVi Charter School hosts a free screening of the film for the SCV Community.

The screening will be held Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Etta James Theater at SCVi Charter School, located at 28060 Hasley Canyon in Castaic and is open to the public.

Think Ten Media Group is also expanding its film’s reach through some innovative distribution approaches that include university outreach. Prestigious institutions like the University of Notre Dame and Emory University and several others have purchased copies. Plus, they’ve decided to give the film away for free. Individuals can learn more about how to get their free digital copies through http://www.getsmuggled.com/#!free/c1x7y, a secret web link.

Think Ten Media Group also has a digital arts education division, Generation Arts, that has conducted programs at several schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley and, most recently, conducted a one-of-a-kind, special program for cancer patients of Children’s Hospital-Los Angeles.

I actually have Tony Newhall to thank for our success with this program as he introduced me to key individuals at Henry Mayo Hospital who then directed me to Children’s Hospital LA, since Henry Mayo does not have a treatment center for children with cancer,” Fischer states. “I love how our local community continues to help us grow and build the work that we do.”

NevertoSmalltoStartThis coming weekend, the first film project created through the innovative program, called Spotlight On Hope, will be shown at the prestigious School of Theater, Film and Television at UCLA. Over a three day period in September, patient participants crafted a story for their short film, shot and acted in the film and created backgrounds and props for the Green Screen project while also learning basic film editing techniques. This coming weekend, the participants and their families will see the completed film for the first time at a special red carpet premiere hosted by UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. The duo are really excited about this premiere event and the possibility of making this an ongoing program.

thnktenFischer and Hamilton are excited about the growth they are seeing for their company and about the successful base they have built in the Santa Clarita Valley. They are currently developing Think Ten Media Group’s next projects, a narrative film piece exploring solitary confinement, a feature-length film following a band of foster children traveling across the country to reunite one of the kid’s with their mother who has been deported, and an eBook about a child whose bravery saves the world. Academy Award-Winning Producer Jonathan Sanger has come aboard as an executive producer on both of their next film projects.
