The Castaic Area Town Council is accepting applications for candidates interested in running for council seats in the November 2014 election.
Residents interested in serving on the town council must meet certain requirements and submit an application postmarked no later than Oct. 15. You can bring it to the public meeting that night.
Candidates must be 18 years or older, a resident of the Castaic area for a minimum of one year, a registered voter and reside within the regional council’s boundaries.
Responsibilities of town council members include reviewing new developments in the Castaic area, voting on recommendations to the county, understanding current zoning codes governing a proposed development and receiving input from the Castaic community. Other responsibilities include providing information to the community regarding safety issues, parks and recreation, education, and the continued growth of the Castaic community.
Castaic Town Council members are required to attend two meetings a month, although council members may be asked to attend additional meetings.
Interested individuals must submit a letter stating why they are interested in serving on the town council along with a list of qualifications.
Applications should be mailed to P.O. Box 325, Castaic 91310. A $50 filing fee is required.
The Castaic Area Town Council is an advisory board for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the election will be held Nov. 15 in Castaic.
Town council seats serve 5 regions within the Castaic area, which include: Region I, Live Oak, North Bluffs and Hillcrest Park; Region II, Val Verde; Region III, Hasley, Sloan and Romero Canyon; Region IV, Meadowwood, Bravo, Encore and the Castaic area east of Interstate 5 and south of Lake Hughes Road; Region V, Double C Ranch, Hidden Lake, Stonegate, Northlake and the Castaic area east of I-5 and north of Lake Hughes Road.
