From a Facebook reader: An acquaintance I know saw the entire accident from across the street and tried to yell at her to move and was unable to get to the other side of Soledad to push her out of the way, but he didn’t get to her on time. He’s pretty upset about this. He says she was in her own world and possibly wearing head phones, so that is probably why she didn’t hear it coming.

This whole town is going to hell
With the massive increase of people living here, and the expansion overall of the area, it makes sense that more deaths will occur. Doesn’t mean the “whole town is going to hell”. Unless by that you mean we’re all Satanists on our way to a fiery afterlife in Lucifer’s party zone.
Just so sad of the losses our lil town has experienced this past week. Heartfelt prayers to the families :'(
Well if you think about @jared gardner this town has so many suicides especially teen suicides. Its something about this town that drives ppl crazy or idk the boredom here in this town. All i know is thar death is our truly release
I agree I moved up here with my family because the crime rate is low but with all the new housing tracks being built crime is on its rise as well as accidents…
This town is “heaven” compared to any of the various “hells” scattered throughout the world.
You should be thankful that a kid wandering in front of a train is one of the worse events taking place here.
@Erik meloni i am in hell. I had the chances to kill myself years ago but i stopped myself to do it. I have so much to live for and im doing my best to have my own version of heaven. To me teen suicide is another excuse of lack of living, cant enjoy the smaller things in life and cant handle reality.
Omar, that still doesn’t mean this town is going to hell. Everyone’s mind are different, everyone’s biology are different. Compared to other cities around us we should all be thankful to live in a place like this. If you want to talk about suicide rates, go to Japan. SCV, is such a good place to grow up in.
Robert Soto that was a great response.. this is a great town… it is what you make it.. this is such a sad tragedy.
This IS a beautiful city with some wonderful people. Peace begins at home…..Prayers for the family and friends affected by this horrible tragedy.
It’s no different now than 30,40,50 etc…years ago. The difference is we have the internet, social media…The larger the town the more things like this happens.
Sad
Wow just wow! So sad prayers

There may be some stained rocks, there may be some evidence of what happened that the fire department was not able to remove. Usually they remove all of their equipment.
Drove by today and looks to me that the white sheet used is left there. Any reason why?
We wondered the SAME thing, kind of not okay…
No its not. Really sad! I would be pissed if I were the parents
Very disrespectful
Very disrespectful….blood is on the sheet that was left behind
Julia Rodriguez did u see it too? I really hope someone takes it so no one else has to see it. I can’t believe they left it behind.
I can see it from my balcony and it is very sad
Chris Cramer can you see if the sheet was removed?
Such an unfortunate thing to have happen, truly heartbreaking…God bless her family and friends.
*+* TO THE PREVIOUS POSTERS *+* it amazes me how y’all are able to type and point fingers at the same time…guess that explains why none of you removed the sheet your self’s.
So now there are a bunch of people standing around on the tracks.. Wow really.. I guess they haven’t learned anything from one horrible accident… How sad…
They were having a family memorial, and they weren’t on the tracks they were off the tracks and on the dirt giving each other condolences

So sad indeed. :'( Must’ve been earlier if she was on the way to school.
Heartbreaking sending prayers
Very sad. Should have not skipped school.
It was a late start for Golden Valley students. They didn’t start until 10:40. But…let’s say she had skipped school…does that mean she deserved getting hit by a freight train! People are extremely inconsiderate!

Calm down. I never implied she deserved to die. Very sad indeed. I feel for the train conductor as well and all that her death affected.

Carri, I have always had a problem with late start and double late start. I felt there was a problem with kids getting to school when the parents worked. This is so sad

Suicide?
Suicide?
Suicide?
No.
Train is whistle is way louder than headphones. Plus the gates were flashing, also cars lined up and lastly, a train can be felt rumbling the ground all around it.
That’s happened a lot due to headphones at high volume when walking on the track

Prayers for the family of this young lady. No parent should have to bury a child
Very sad.
My husband was one of the crew members on the train that struck her. He saw the whole thing and could not stop it. It will affect him for the rest of his life. He can barely function right now. His heart is broken and he is falling apart. We have a daughter the same age. Her family and friends are constantly on my mind, and in every prayer I say to God. May her sweet, precious soul rest in heaven.

The sheriff’s department has to investigate the witness statements, the train camera, and lots of other evidence before they can rule a suicide, intervire family, mental health history, social history. The train was blaring it’s horn non-stop. This is very, very loud. Louder than headphones. The crossing gates were down, with lights flashing. There were cars lined up at the crossing. She walked right past everything, staring straight ahead. A freight train that is so close to you rumbles the earth under your feet. You can feel it. You also have peripheral vision as you are walking up towards something. She never turned her head to look at the train crew. It was tunnel-vision … a trance.
RIP and Prayers to her family
May God give peace to her family and may Kimberly rest in peace. .also I pray for the frined that was with her at the Time
Nice to see this community come together to help this family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. May she rest in peace. Please everyone support the car wash and taco sale. ♡

Andrew and I will come by Cyn Cntry Park this afternoon.
So sad.
This wasn’t a suicide, she was distracted by her cellphone. And she wasn’t skipping school. It drives me nuts when people judge not knowing the story. Her best friend is in my kids’ karate class and she is devastated and so is her family.
Kim Wilcox Castruita. Nobody who was not there can speculate. Nobody can know her thoughts. Not even her family. My husband was in the train. He so distraught, he can barely speak, but what he does describe, it would be impossible for her to not see this train coming, feel it, hear it … she was not on her cellphone. She stepped right in front of it, 2 feet away.
GV has double late start on 1st Friday of the month and I heard she was running to catch the bus that waits for no one . Sad for the family . Rest in peace beautiful !!

Heartbreaking. Prayers to family and friends.
I was an engineer for Southern Pacific in the 70’s it was a very stressful job. Not only worried about the crew. But by hitting something. I did 4 times. That was my run from LA to Bakersfield. My prayers are with her & her family, but also with the train crew.
I live close to the cross…and there isn’t a sidewalk to cross …its a place abandoned by city…
Sorry. Dont like
