DMV signHundreds of undocumented immigrants will be standing in line at California DMV’s in the next few months to obtain legal driver’s licenses.

Assembly Bill 60 is now in effect and allows non-citizen motorists without a visa or green card to get a driver’s license.

The Bill was passed in 2013 by Gov. Jerry Brown.

New driver’s will be issued a license similar to those already being printed, but with the addition of the words “Federal Limits Apply” in the upper right hand corner.

“Well I think that it’s good that the undocumented workers can get their licenses now,” said Angel Ramirez, a customer at the DMV. “This way we know who they are and where they might be.”

To be eligible under AB 60, drivers must supply proof of residency and identity, pass a vision test, a driver’s license knowledge test and a behind-the-wheel test.DMV and Line

An estimated 1.4 million additional driver’s licenses will be processed during the first three years after the implementation of AB 60, according to the DMV website.

According to a DMV press release, in order to deal with all the influx of customers the DMV has opened up Saturday hours by appointment for all new license applicants, newly opened four driver license processing centers, in addition customers now able to schedule appointments up to 90 days in advance and the DMV has 900 newly hired employees to help ensure good customer service.

Saturday appointments will begin on January 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. according to the DMV website.

For more information about AB 60 you can visit the DMV website here.

This is a good thing, but I am wondering who is is that the sheriffs plan to catch in their checkpoints ? They have never been able to catch drunk drivers, and have only caught people driving without licenses. Now that those people will have licenses, who will be left to harass and punish ?

So everyone in this thread would rather be hit by an unlicensed driver?

  6. I’m so glad I paid thousands of dollars for my husband to do a pesky little thing like immigrate legally. This is a slap in the face.

  7. I love the way they used the word flock… wtf…

  8. This is so wrong! And imagine the lines now at the DMV.

  9. Jeremy McRae Jeremy McRae says:

Good, people don’t get that undocumented civilians are going to drive around anyway. At least now the “undocumented” can be accounted for as opposed to having nothing on file.

  10. I don’t understand….they want to abide by the law, by getting a driver’s license….ok, but they don’t follow the law to get legally documented or become a legal citizen…?? Why is that??

  11. I understand they drive anyways but rewarding criminals is seriously infuriating.

And the argument that they’ll now suddenly all secure insurance is absurd. My opinion is…. a majority will still drive without insurance and screw over my rates and family once I’m hit.

  12. Good! Now they can get insured and minimize hit and runs.

  13. The dmv is already a nightmare. Glad I don’t need to do anything there in the next couple months. Good for them though.

Whats funny is this influx has broken the seems at DMV parking lots around the State, as these criminals drove there own cars legitimate this ;)

  20. Sarah Cadena good thing I don’t desperately need a new ID

  21. It’s called DOCUMENTATION People . Think about it , would you rather have thousands of undocumented people running/driving around with their whereabouts unknown , or would you like to have a record of where they can be found and held accountable ? Don’t get crazy, documentation is a good thing.

  22. That explains why it was so busy today when I was getting my license.

  23. Donn Miller Donn Miller says:

Personally, i like “Undocemented”. What the hell happened to “Illegal”? This is the most pathetic state in the country. So you give them a license, they still get in accidents. What are you going to do? Deport them? Totally effing lame.

    • Wow! What a great way to start the year! So much hatred. What happened to your new year’s resolution about being more loving and compassionate.

    • What happened is that I paid thousands to have my husband immigrate legally and he had to WAIT until the federal government sent his proper documentation before he could apply for his drivers license. Why should they be able to waltz in and circumvent the whole damn process while giving the immigration laws the big middle finger. It has nothing to do with hate and everything with to do with FOLLOWING THE LAW.

      • Rachelle says:

Well said Michelle. I love when Eliseo Cisneros and Douglas Castillo bring out the “hate” rhetoric. How is it “hate” to point out the LAW!!!!! That is such a used page out of the ILLEAGAL IMMIGRATION playbook! So tired of it! Get some new material people!

    • What’s pathetic is the wealthy white people who bring them into the country for cheap labor. Then they call imagination on there employees to save even more money that’s why the illegals as you like to call them get a brain save money quit said job and stay in this country it’s not a third world here wouldn’t you want the same for your family? So don’t be a jerk and insult hard working people wanting a piece of the American dream I hope the Lord gives you what you deserve cuz at the end of the day were all the same we’re made in his image

    • They can have a piece of the American Dream, they just need to do it legally.

    • If there was an ad in America paying 250k a year for a job in France and you had financial problems wouldn’t you inquire about this opportunity and once you had the job and they offered to fly you there and pay you under the table you would turn it down because it’s illegal bull buddy you’d feed your family by any means necessary and if you say different in feel for your women cuz you’re not a man.

  24. I’m ALL for them getting documentation. First step…. visa. Then…let’s go from there.

  25. My question is: where do they work? I thought that companies have to verify their status and check the soc. Sec. No. The problem is much bigger than a drivers license.

    • Everybody needs cheap labor and that’s where we come in , everybody needs us undocumented for cheap labor, but no body talks about.

    • AND YOU GUYS WON’T DO IT

    • Tyson is one company that places ads in Mexican news papers and buses them in for cheap labor it’s the wealthy white people that do this instead of outsourcing they bring them in it stimulates the economy because the immigrants spend money here then when Tyson is done they call imagination to deport these hard working decent people who want a piece of the American dream and sadly this helps Americans with job control you need imagination officers right win win America just explote third world country people who want to work

    • Cleaning your house .. Your gardener what a dumb ??

    • …and this is exactly why I said that the problem is bigger than a license. Margarita Bonilla, I clean my own house and two wrongs does not make it right!

  26. Do it right, become legal citizens first….this is BS!!!

    • Next time go out and vote.

    • I’ve never missed an election day yet smartass

    • Lazy American do some research wealthy white people place ads in Mexican news papers and buses them in the country and since I feel your extremely lazy start with Tyson yes the chicken company not Mike and see how these poor people are treated

    • LMAO, Oscar your a bigger joke than Eliseo. But you must be psychic ( just a horrible one) if you can tell by a post that someone is lazy LOL But if I want to say how F’ed up this is and that makes me lazy, well than it is what it is!!! You guys are funny.

    • No Jamie Lynn Lessing your funny your lazy text has proven my point and if your fed up write your congress men gather some signatures you have plenty of volunteers on this site but your lazy so you won’t and you will just complain on Web sites and vote when your friends tell you who you should vote because I doubt you can think for yourself

    • Oscar you have no point!!! Which is why I’m done wasting my precious time on ignorant people!!! Especially on Facebook…Oh Ps, ever heard of Freedom of Speech? Have you run your mouth to every other person on this post who feels the way i do? Probably not cuz your lazy!!!!

    • I have heard of the rights of this country is defended them overseas that’s why I speak my mind and your right I’m not lazy I love this country that’s why I believe having hard working people here will help and possibly one day when government assistance for lazy Americans runs out we will weed out the weak.

    • Someone’s a little lazy with the grammar…and it’s not Jamie.

  27. Danny Guerra Danny Guerra says:

This is bs whats the point of being a citizen and having social security if ilegals are gonna be driving even tho theyre ilegal wtf bs Tyler Morlan

  28. Haha hundreds, try millions!

  29. D.m.v is doing it by appointment only for this new licensing.

  30. Tyler Morlan Tyler Morlan says:

Bro just give up the immigrants will continue to get whatever they want

  31. Can’t even get an appt. to get my son’s permit. Was there today for something else and the wait was 180 minutes. Left.

  32. Danny Guerra Danny Guerra says:

The problem is when they are ilegal. If they were legal immigrants I’d have no problem. But all of these people are ilegal. Tyler Morlan

  33. Jose Larios Jose Larios says:

2 story houses are overrated, no one wants to walk up stairs after a long day, but people should know u.s. Foreign policy but it can’t compete with m dis pushing personal agendas

  34. Steve Cooley Steve Cooley says:

This isn’t documentation. It’s backdoor amnesty.

  35. Sharon Todd Sharon Todd says:

I haven’t read up on this beyond the few headlines I’ve seen, but I sure hope that one of requirements is to show proof of insurance before they give the undocumented immigrants a driver’s license.

    • That’s why you have the option to have more coverage not Just for immigrants but for Crack heads rich kids that take there parents car anyone without a license or insurance and your covered its not fair but I still pay it and it’s not the immigrants fault look up Tyson job ad in Mexico and you will learn horrible things about this country of ours

    • Sharon Todd Sharon Todd says:

Granted, I don’t like (hate is a better word) the current politics, but why does everyone want to live here? I mean we have immigrants from all over the world on this tiny little section of earth. They need to just go back home where they came from so we can make our country right again. Just saying.

    • Yeah they get insurance At a Reduced rate. Read the new laws of 2015 it’s sick

    • What do you think they get paid it’s not like they will all be given a corvette you people are sick all there getting is a driver’s license and possibly a better life what jerks those Mexicans wanting more for there families the nerve it’s almost like America is the land of opportunity or something what animals they are…

    • Sharon Todd are you serious sweety do you need a history lesson because your including yourself because not knowing your family tree I’d still bet my life your ancestors are not from north America like mine the Vazquez family has been in Santa Clarita when it was still Mexico

    • Sharon Todd Sharon Todd says:

I don’t even know how to respond, except to say you are apparently missing the big picture of why it’s not necessarily a good thing for them to be given a driver’s license only because they’re undocumented, meaning illegal, immigrants.

    • Sharon Todd Sharon Todd says:

It doesn’t matter now where my ancestors came from I was born in the US and belong here.

    • Well if that’s true then Mexican immigrants who have kids born here belong here! You should run for office you have my vote. License are a good thing for everyone

    • Sharon Todd Sharon Todd says:

That is true. Children born here are citizens regardless of where their parents were born. I agree about the license if only because it’s a way to keep track of the undocumented.

  36. Dave Francis says:

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! A CALL TO ARMS TO BLOCK ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY.

    PASS IT ON?

NOT EVERY LIBERAL ORIENTED MEDIA WILL NOT LET YOU READ THIS?

On JANUARY 5, 2015, Congress is back in Session and unless we bombard them with phone calls and whatever means of communication, America will be facing the most serious situation that we can imagine. Your money, your taxes being appropriated to cater to illegal aliens—those already here and with King Obama ignoring immigration laws, millions on the way to satisfy big business, unions, US chamber of Commerce, entertainment, construction and agricultural services. Completely ignoring that America already has its share of poverty and that a estimated 92 million Americans are still seeking work or have part time jobs. Illegal Aliens are being granted California Drivers Licenses, educational grants and many other programs, originally meant for citizens and residents.

Every American who is sick and frustrated with King Obama, his demented elected officials, the Republican zealots who PANDERING to the 5 to 11 million criminal illegal aliens squatting in the United States, must be ready to jam the phone banks on Capitol Hill. Only President Bush had the guts to sign an order to build the double layer fencing 700 miles from east to West. WE NEED THAT FENCING. Each state is either spending millions or billions of dollars on the illegal alien invaders as deceitful support to their cronies and wealthy friends, unions and all the K Street lobbyists who contribute large sums of money to campaigns, conferences abroad, parties and a undocumented host of monetary gifts and special mortgages for home by bankers and low interest rates for other items.

We, as AMERICAN TAXPAYERS PAY FOR IT ALL.

We pay all the subsidies for illegal alien babies born here (Anchor Babies) and we eventually end up contributing to family members who are initially sponsored by a new citizen, in pensions and retirement.

So Attention all anti-illegal immigration and anti-amnesty fighting activists working with ALIPAC, Overpasses for America, and our many allied organizations, including the Tea Party.

Please prepare your schedules and round up as many others as possible to form call teams. We are going to need a massive mobilization online and on the phones to call for John Boehner to lose his position as Speaker of the House due to his covert cooperation with and plotting with Obama to institute amnesty for millions of illegal aliens using unconstitutional means that violate their oaths of office!

John Boehner and Barack Obama have gone to new extremes to decree amnesty for millions of illegal aliens due to our August 2014 Against Amnesty campaign that caused John Boehner to flee from plans to pass amnesty legislation to Obama’s desk. Our success stopping Amnesty legislation in 2013 and 2014 is why Obama has been pushed to such extremes currently. Let’s hope and pray our next effort will stop them once again and push them to even further extremes that could awaken the America populace!

John Boehner and Mitch McConnell’s new plan is to pretend to oppose Obama’s illegal suspension of America’s existing immigration and border laws, while covertly protecting Obama’s abuse of power and conspiring to rubber stamp and forgive Obama’s dictatorial actions with amnesty legislation slipped into law later on.

The only chance Americans have at defeating this new amnesty threat legislatively is if John Boehner and or Mitch McConnell are removed from their leadership positions.

Our many allies in Congress are working to achieve this and they are going to need our help first thing Monday morning January 5, 2015!

Please bring yourself and others rapidly up to speed on this crisis and be prepared to lead the way when our alerts go out from http://www.ALIPAC.usearly Monday morning.

Also, if you’re favorite groups and leaders of organizations have not yet signed our open letter

Open Letter Calling for Obama, McConnell, and Boehner to be Removed From Power
    http://www.alipac.us/f8/open-letter-calling-obama-mcconnell-boehner-removed-power-315810/

Please ask them to write William Gheen at WilliamG@alipac.us as soon as possible to sign the letter that has been signed by 24 leaders so far. Our signatories include (as of Jan 2, 2015)

ALIPAC, Overpasses for America, Oath Keepers, Tea Party Community, The Remembrance Project, NC Listen, NCFIRE, Restore American Liberty, Riders USA, Minnesotans Seeking Immigration Reform (MSIR), 2 Million Bikers To DC, One Nation Rising, Stop the Magnet, Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas (IRCOT), Americans Have Had Enough Coalition, Cabarrus Conservative Alliance – PAC, Speak Up Save America, Floridians for Immigration Enforcement, Connecticut Tea Party Patriots, Help Save Maryland, Chicago & Suburban Tea Party, We The People Rising, and Tea Party of Loudoun County.

All allied leaders and organizations are asked to prepare their memberships for the approaching battle by explaining to everyone about the Obama-McConnell-Boehner Amnesty Plot #OMBAP, the need for Boehner and McConnell to lose their leadership positions, and the need for unprecedented and historic high levels of online and phone activism on Monday January 5 and Tuesday January 6, 2015.

THIS IS A CALL TO ARMS SO EVERY US TAXPAYER, DELUSIONAL POLITICAL PARTY MEMBERS, LEGAL RESIDENTS, MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN FORCES, NUMBERSUSA SUBSCRIBERS WHO BELIEVE IN THE ABSOLUTE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE UNITED STATES, OUR RIGHTS, THE RULE OF AF LAW AND THE US CONSTITUTION AND NOT OBAMAS TREASONABLE LAW SHOULD CONTACT ALL MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE.

THE TEA PARTY needs you—America’s grassroots army—to keep going and continue the fight in Washington. YOU SHOULD WANT TO PURSUE EVERY SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN and bomb the phone Numbers and Mailing Addresses of Members of Congress at: http://www.contactingthecongress.org / or http://www.usa.gov/Contact/US-Congress.shtml / The TEA PARTY members are urged to pick-up the phone. US Capitol Switchboard (202) 224-3121; (the toll free number is 1- 866-220-0044) and join other conservatives who are committed to flood the phone lines on Capitol Hill with this simple message.’ IGNORE THE PEOPLE AT YOUR OWN PERIL.’ A very reliable website designed for those against illegal immigration is Americans for Legal Immigration PAC http://www.alipac.us /

Ladies and gentlemen, please start your engines!

ALIPAC will be working through the weekend to prepare. Please watch our homepage closely and be ready to run with our alerts first thing Monday morning.

  37. International driver’s license. With visa Purchase USA insurance and prove why you are here!!!!!!

  38. I hope they get insurance. And don’t give a fake name. Sorry for everyone else whose still waiting In line to become citizens. And now they can vote for the dems

  39. With driver’s license they can get a job and become productive citizens instead of freeloaders. This isn’t a bad thing. Some of these people were brought here as children. It’s not their fault. Don’t let a few bad illegals ruin it for the rest of them.

  40. LOVE EACH OTHER….. IS A COMMAND. …LOVE YOU GUYS

  41. Well… if they are old enough to drive, and old enough to work ..then they’re old enough to get documents to become LEGAL citizens of the UNITED STATES! Not just a VISA to work here… I mean if this is such a great country… than why not become a U.S. citizen! Even those that were brought here by their parents… they should know by now, what’s right and what’s not right… its a matter of principle!

    • Well sir I did it right but I know many Mexicans were bused here illegally by Americans to work and some worked the fields and when the work ended they had nowhere to go never learned English because they were brought here for cheap labor

    • How can they obtain citizenship and visit little Italy and tell me how many visa you see there mostly all undocumented but we only concern ourselves with the Mexican

    • No where in my posts, did I mention race… its not just a Mexican thing… its undocumented drivers/workers, period.

    • Is that what your religion teaches you?? Is that what you pray to your god?? How sad that an older lady (close to death) thinks in a very dark and heartless way. Next time you go to church, express this type of opinions and let me see how People perceive you. Definitely not an example of the church

  53. It was a mess out there, that is how many illegals we have in the SCV. Also, in L.A., rent control new ordinance says you cannot refuse to rent to someone who has a drivers license but no social security number. Ummmm ok let’s challenge that one!

  55. Taffi Wallin Taffi Wallin says:

Sure wish the undocumented person who ran over my husband’s friend on his motorcycle and killed him had been required to have a driver’s license. As it was, he ran from the scene and who knows who he was or where he ran to? Back to Mexico?

  56. I’m going to say only this…I have to show all types of documentation when I applied for a license, now it’s not necessary? Doesn’t seem right to me.

  57. Documented Drivers
    of
    Undocumented Citizens!
How’s that for a paper trail!
    DEAD END

  58. You all are so quick to label this group as a “whole”….What if you were in there shoes? Wouldn’t you want the chance to obtain a drivers license…maybe…just maybe?…To commute to work everyday to raise your family in a quote on quote “safer” country then where you migrated from….Being licenses and being insured are completely different benefits. If they can pass the driver’s test- just like the rest of us- then let them go right ahead! This is no different then the thousands of drivers on the road today who are uninsured. A lot of you have potent beliefs that this country belongs to “your people” or “your race”….Well it doesn’t this country’s foundation was molded by immigration. There is no American Race…I am German and Irish…should I only be allowed to have a driver’s license because I was born here locally in Los Angeles…I am the same person either way if I am an immigrant from Germany just arriving or my ancestors settled here years ago….Most of these undocumented immigrants are moving here to escape a life none of us will ever have to fathom. Don’t be so selfish…put yourself in there shoes for a moment…It’s a driver’s license we give ours out readily to 16 Year old kids….If they past the test, right on! Let them obtain a license AND INSURANCE!
