scvsheriffcarDeputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a possible kidnapping that had just occurred Thursday at about 7 p.m. in the 24200 block of Arch Street in Newhall.

A male adult allegedly grabbed hold of a 3-year-old girl by reaching through a bedroom window at the girl’s residence. The suspect then allegedly ran down the street holding onto the 3-year-old. Family members chased the suspect and were able to regain custody of the child.

Once on scene, SCV Sheriff’s deputies acted quickly and chased the suspect further down the street. Deputies set up a containment of the area where the suspect was then ultimately apprehended and arrested without incident.

The 3-year-old girl, although startled, was unharmed in the incident.

The name and age of the suspect are not being released at the time as this investigation is ongoing. It appears there is no relation between the suspect and the 3-year-old victim or her family. Deputies will remain on-scene through the late evening hours to further this investigation and gather additional evidence.

Deputies are asking if you have any additional information regarding this incident, or if you witnessed this incident to please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station as soon as possible at 661-255-1121. If you would like to remain anonymous, please call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
