LASD_BadgeIn early December, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department became aware of evidence that three deputy sheriffs and a parking control officer were implicated in individual incidents of theft from towed vehicles or accepting cash from vehicle owners to avoid towing and impounding of their vehicles.  The Sheriff’s Department immediately began an investigation to determine if there had been other instances of criminal activity on the part of those implicated, or whether any other personnel were involved in this misconduct.

Based on that investigation, there has been no evidence discovered to date of any additional personnel involved or any other instances of such criminal activity.

The four employees have been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the ongoing criminal investigation.

Sheriff Jim McDonnell underscored the importance of the Department’s prompt and thorough response: “As a law enforcement organization, it is imperative that we earn the public’s trust each day.  Any acts of misconduct by members of our Department tarnish the badge all of us wear and erode the confidence the public has in law enforcement.  We will respond swiftly and resolutely whenever acts of this nature come to our attention, just as we did in this case.”

According to news reports this did not take place in Santa Clarita, none the less when those who are sworn to uphold the law violate the law, especially knowingly, they should be punished to a far greater extent than the average citizen. Lets see what happens here and do not forget the ongoing investigation and prosecution involving the jail scandal. Does it extend to the top?

  17. Someone once told me that “if a person wants to be a cop, then they should be disqualified” if you think about it, it kinda makes sense.

What I like about these posts is all the cop haters that comment. It allows me to identify who’s a criminal.
