Hundreds of Santa Clarita Valley mountain bike riders are gathering at Castaic Lake this weekend for a two-day event.
More than 180 riders took part in the middle school-level races Saturday, and more than 60 high school teams are expected to compete Sunday.
More than 500 riders are expected March 29, including teams from Academy of the Canyons, Hart, Trinity and Valencia are expected to begin competition at 10 a.m..
The Santa Clarita Valley Mountain Bike Team is a cross country mountain bike team that competes in the SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League.

Team members represent their high schools at the race events, but the Santa Clarita Valley teams hold practices together to share resources.
Middle school racers will all compete on the same Santa Clarita Valley team.
The Santa Clarita High School Mountain Bike Teams is hosting Race No. 3 at Castaic Lake this Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29.
This will be the first time the races will be held at Castaic Lake since the SoCal League was started in 2009.
