[KHTS] – A parolee surrendered to deputies Monday evening after initially refusing to come out of a house in Valencia.

Screen Shot 2015-07-06 at 6.28.38 PMOfficials said initial reports of a man pulling a knife on his parents were inaccurate.

The incident began at about 5:15 p.m. at a residence in the 24300 block of Via Telino.

“We had a report of a family disturbance where the suspect was on parole got into an argument with the family,” said Lt. Derek Sabatini of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The family went outside and we tried talking him out of the house. He turned himself in and we are going to take him for a parole violation,” Sabatini said.

“The original report of assault with a deadly weapon appears to be untrue,” he said. “There may have been knife involved, but no threat was made with the knife.”

  23. What’s happening to “Awesome Town”???

  24. Jeanne says:

I think the anemic economic recovery and high rents are to blame. Not enough jobs that pay enough to rent an apartment are keeping kids at home for way too long. This is increasing frustration and tension in the home.

On my street at the top of Saugus all the kids that grew up there are now 20-30 years old and still living at home even though they work full time. Most of them have finished college or had at least some college. They can’t afford 1500.00 to 1800.00 rents with jobs that pay less than 15.00 an hour.

  25. Shirley says:

ugh i hate the whole “awesome town” it’s so lame.

  26. This was literally in my backyard as its the neighbors on my back fence. We just moved to the area in September from Santa Monica and I have to say we have been hearing the police helicopter out quite a bit since moving here. I know the crime is lower here but it is on the rise.
