[KHTS]- Deputies with the Santa Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating a dead body found in a parked car in Santa Clarita.

The adult male was found in his car in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart located at 26471 Carl Boyer Dr., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.

The man was homeless and was living out of his vehicle and died due to existing medical conditions, said Sgt. Tim Vander Leek of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene at approximately 8 p.m., according to Vander Leek.

As of 9:40 p.m., coroner’s officials are en route, said Vander Leek.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

  1. What model car was he found in?

  2. How awful. My friend and I were at the Santa Clarita library earlier today (way better than the libraries up here). We passed Walmart. Sad to think this man may have still been alive when we were there/headed back into town.

  3. Angel Reyes says:

Wth is going on here lately

  4. Trilce Eli says:

But lets focus on taking down the Pop Up Libraries and food trucks ??

    • It looks as though he died of pre-existing medical issues.

    • Trilce Eli says:

      The illegal food truck

    • Never heard of “the illegal food truck” but foods trucks are great to have just not ones that are illegal lol

    • Guss Rob says:

      No food is illegal

    • Trilce Eli says:

      ^ thats what I think

    • Then it’s not a food truck if they don’t sell food haha

    • Trilce Eli says:

They needed a permit that they weren’t getting to sell food, therefore illegal

    • I don’t even understand this comment… Are you insinuating that this man would not have died if the city wasn’t making people get permits for things that require permits?? ?

    • So, the illegal dirty water hot dog carts being allowed to operate without being accountable, therefore NOT paying into public social services, would have prevented this man’s condition?
      I see.

    • Kristina Joy says:

NO she is saying that it is pointless to focus on the pop up libraries when there are more important things going on, like this. Morons. Kari Dauer-Hewitt and Rachel Forster

    • Clearly, us taxpaying, law-abiding morons don’t believe that breaking laws created to preserve a basic standard of living is the way to improve anyone’s quality of life.
It’s so far beyond me how anyone could possibly think that laws were created to oppress anyone.
If I have to conduct myself by a certain set of laws, then why shouldn’t others?
      Because life picks on them?
I’m the first one to stop and help someone in need, but I’ll do it legally. This man suffered from years of issues.
He had the same opportunities that any of us did, and his family and friends owed him some compassion- first- before any public services did.

    • Trilce Eli says:

I get what you are saying Kari Dauer-Hewitt. What I think is that SC is still small enough to focus on cleaning it up from all the drug dealing that is going on all over the wash which is the home of the homeless. I’ve lived in SC my whole life and never aware on how bad the situation was. We had a home on Langside Ave, the back led to the wash, never had an issue until we started paying attention to the voices that came from the wash it got so scary that we wouldn’t go to the backyard after dark cuz you never knew what someone could do under the influence or to get money for drugs. 3 days after we moved I saw post on a homeless found dead, he was found directly behind my old house :( its scary what goes on there.

    • This poor, homeless man just suffered a hopeless, lonely, death. Does it really matter for what reason he found Walmart for his final day of life. I’m saddened by his lonely maybe painful death and hope his afterlife is ihappier. The other issues on this page don’t really belong here. They feel cold and unsympathetic. God bless his sole .He just may have been a vet,but for sure someone’s son.

    • You are absolutely correct, Shirley Vercelli.
I’m angry, and upset, for a number of reasons.

  5. Irma Zepeda says:

    Really? Melissa Mariscal

  6. I have always seen a parked rv there
Older model. I wonder if that was him. RIP

  7. I work there and when I was outside relaxing earlier this evening I sensed something and seconds later the cops arrived around the car along with the ambulance so I walked inside since it made me nervous. How horrible that a life has left earth tonight :'(

  8. Also heard of two deaths in the antelope valley today

  9. Omg we were JUST there a couple hours ago and saw all the commotion. Just terrible.

  10. That is so sad , that he died homeless and alone. :(

    • Madison Rae says:

He wasn’t homeless. Didn’t anyone ever teach you to not believe every time you read on the internet?

    • Madison Rae you are RUDE!!! AS you can see I was being compassionate and empathetic to a loss of a LIFE!!!! I don’t care if he is or isn’t homeless (if he was that is sad) even if he wasn’t a loss of a life is STILL SAD!!!! Do NOT comment with a nasty or sassy comment as to IF I believe everything I READ on the internet to be true. I don’t actually I DO however have love and compassion FOR ALL LIFE AS IT IS PRECIOUS!!!!! So there you go that is why I commented on the post!

  11. Jeff Selph says:

I’ve live in SCV since 1974 Its crazy how many homeless we have here now. I work in Hollywood and see them all the time there. Quite a few there have mental issues, here I think it’s a drug issue most of the one’s I see are young. RIP

  12. Oh poor man, was this at the Walmart on Carl Boyer Dr.?

  13. What kind be of car… Anyone?

  14. He wasn’t homeless if he has a car

  15. So sad! May he peacefully rest in the arms of our Lord!

  16. Da Jesta says:

Dude, I used to work there. Still know many people there…. I should see if everyone’s okay……

  17. This is heartbreaking. My dauhgter and I were leaving WalMart around 8:55pm tonight

  18. Erin Henry says:

We need to find a way to help the homeless kids on drugs. I new shelter is being built in San Fernando Valley. Hope of the valley.

  19. mayan jellybean says:

He was a loving brother, father and grandfather. He will be missed.

  20. Nic Miller says:

That guy has been living at the skate park parking lot for years

  21. We need to start taking care of our Vets and the homeless in our Country.Too many people are concentrating on helping other countries and ignore what is going on right here.

  22. Doug says:

Regarding illegal food trucks. Shouldn’t they be called undocumented food trucks and continue to operate?
When I was there the legal food trucks used to fight over turf and they would take each other out

  23. Len Rothmann says:

Lots of money for wars, billions for oil companies, pensions for legislatures but nor for the rest. Remember WELFARE is for the wealthy. Wisc Gov just a tool 250 million from the university and gave it to 2 NYC billionaires to build an arena for a basketball team.

  24. In the past two years the largest increase in homelessness are victims of domestic violence. It wasn’t Veterans (although their numbers are still too high), not those with mental illness, nor those with addiction issues. So I applaud those women who finally got the courage to say, enough is enough. It’s sad to see anyone die alone, so get involved…be the change.

    • Madison Rae says:

He wasn’t alone he has a family. He wasn’t homeless. Didn’t anyone ever teach you to not believe everything that you read on the Internet

    • Yes I can read and don’t take most of the stories I read on the internet as fact. I was replying to the uneducated comments regarding homelessness. Every year there is a mass burial of unknown soles and too many were those who died on the streets, including Skid Row.

  25. anonymous says:

I do Uber and lyft a lot and I was parked no more than 40 feet when this all happened, I left a lot to do rides…this man had family so many of them showed up, in between my rides this is sad to think he had family who cared about him and he passed in his car…..

  26. Agree, it’s sad that any human dies alone and homeless.

  27. William says:

OK I think my last comment got flagged for not using my name, but I was parked about 40 feet away when this all happened…I do both Uber and lyft and Walmart is a place that I park in between rides, well in between the rides I noticed a lot of people show up and cry and hug in response to this man’s death, therfore he had family, he also had a daughter, I could over hear bits of the Convo, the corner had with the family, but it wasnt my place to hear so I left at that point….but he had family who cared…..there were at least 12 people who showed up in tears or in a hurry…

  28. dennis valentino says:

people dont think you couldnt end up homeless most people live from paycheck to paycheck it can happen to any of you and more then likely the way the economy is going it probably will happen to some of the dollar is going fo crash its inevitable so thst means all you have worked for will be lost retirements houses bank accounts every thing will be gone then we will all be homeless and as far as a drug habbit every one hear has some sort of cruch weather it be prescribed drugs or star bucks leage speed but none the less coffie is a drug and sugar is considered a drug that is a fact if it says low fat it.means extra sugar thats why Americans are so fat so save all your hypocritical post to your self your alk drug addicts in one way or a nother !!All of you people make me sick!!We are all brothers and sisters here on this planet have you ever heard the biblical reference.LOVE THY NEIGHBOR??I dont think it matters if they are your wash neighbours or your next door neighbours god says go love your neighbors a.d he doesnt say unless there home less you judge people like this?”IF YOU DONT GIVE MERCY YOU WONT RECEIVE MERCY AND IF YOU DONT FORGIVE YOU WONT BE FORGIVEN”Now we all have alot of work to do on our selves dont we?PLUCK THE BEAM FROM THYNE OWN EYE SO YOU CAN SEE TO PLUCK THE SPILNTER FROM YOYD NEIGHBORS EYE HYPOCRITES .!!!

  29. Krystal nohrenberg says:

He was my dad. He lived in his car yes. But he wasn’t a homeless druggie. Drugs had nothing to do with his death. He lived a great life and served the many people of his church every single day. I would appreciate all the rude comments to end since none of you knew anything. Thank you

  31. Denice Lyke says:

Not trying to start anything, but my Uncle is homeless out here in Canyon Country, by CHOICE. He has his van, and sleeps in it. I also have a brother, who is also homeless by choice, in the valley. People pick their paths. Whatever that path is, sometimes it truly is what they want. Keep that in mind before you say they are on drugs, unstable, mentally ill, etc. May this man rest in peace.

  32. Tracy Michaelis says:

It was announced this morning that this man attend oyr church. I can not picture his face, but was told he was very active at the church and was a beautiful Christian man whom often made popcorn on Wednesday night for the kid’s snacks and frequently helped in the church kitchen. God bless his family.

  33. Out of respect for his poor daughter, SCVTV Santa Clarita can you please remove this post? Thank you
