Three different drama programs all earned first place honors, and a fourth helped complete a sweep of one category at the Drama Teachers Association of Santa Clarita competition Saturday.
A total of 86 schools were represented in the competition held at Los Angeles High School of the Arts, which showcased drama, comedy and musicals. Large group competition had to have three to 10 members while individuals competed with monologue performances.
Valencia High School took first place in drama, a team from Golden Valley took first in comedy and Canyon claimed first place in musical. In fact, it was a four-team sweep of the top four spots in musical with Golden Valley in first, Canyon for second place, Valencia in third and Saugus in fourth place.
Chelsea White from Canyon took fifth place in the monologue competition.
