The Santa Clarita City Council will be deciding whether to rename the cross-valley connector in honor of veterans at their meeting Tuesday night.
Should the council vote in favor of the renaming, the roadway would become the Veterans Memorial Parkway in honor of the 10,000 servicemen and women who live here in Santa Clarita, according to the council agenda.
The 8.5 mile stretch of road connects State Route 14 with Interstate 5.
According to the agenda, portions of the cross-valley connector falls in the jurisdiction of Caltrans. So should the council adopt the new name, formal recognition would also require passage of a resolution by the state.

Why “still” deciding? Thats a no brainer.
What is the name of the connector now?
Newhall Ranch Road and Golden Valley Road
How many things around here celebrate Peace?
What is the current name of the cross valley connector being considered for being re-named?
Should happen, but why “Memorial” if it is to honor the more than 10,000 Veterans LIVING here in Santa Clarita?
Proceed as proposed.
That’s a great idea. My neighbor is a 92 yr old Pearl Harbor vet. When will we know if they were smart enough to vote for it !
