The man who barricaded himself in a backyard shed for seven hours before committing suicide has been identified as 31-year-old Corey Kieffer.
Los Angeles County Coroner’s officials identified Kieffer as the man who was found dead after a standoff in a Canyon Country backyard Thursday morning.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded Wednesday at about 7:50 p.m. to the 19600 block of Babington Street in Canyon Country. A resident in the neighborhood reported that there was an unknown man hiding in a shed located in their backyard.
Upon arriving to the 19600 block of Babington Street, it was determined that the suspect in the shed was armed and suicidal. LASD Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) deputies were brought in to assist and crisis negotiators attempted numerous times to communicate with the suspect and convince him to come out of the shed.
When communication ceased between the suspect and the negotiators for a period of time, the SEB deputies made entry into the shed. At approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday, upon making entry, SEB deputies found a deceased man in the shed.
Homicide Bureau detectives will now be handling the investigation, where it appears that the armed barricaded suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Oh my god. After the man hunt for him a couple of years ago and now this? Wow. I can’t believe little Cory ended up in so much trouble. I wonder how Kenny is doing, this has got to be so rough on him. And their dad. He was so awesome to all of us.
Very sad

Yeah this is Eleasars picture. It was unreal!
Really sad news
Heartbreaking :'(
This story is incomplete. It doesn’t tell why he was running from the law. As I understand it, he had a felony warrant for domestic violence and Shooting at a police officer. In his efforts to escape, he frightened many while running through their back yards. Anyone’s suicide is a tragedy, but let’s have all the facts. And why is one commenter talking about the author’s photo?
Sad news indeed.
I wonder if he just needed someone to talk too
at least no one else was hurt, or he did a “Suicide By Cop”.
Very sad . I know him and his dad. He will be missed very much over here. R.I.P
How is the shed
