PALMDALE — Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-Agua Dulce) will honor National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day and the patriots who defended the Korean Peninsula as well as all 25th Congressional District veterans on Saturday by announcing her office’s participation in the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project.

The Veterans History Project collects, preserves and makes accessible the personal accounts of American wartime veterans so that future generations can learn from their experience and better understand the realities of war.

Now in its 19th year, the project includes the stories of more than 107,785 veterans who have participated. Yet, only 10,000 of those submissions come from California.

As the proud representative of more than 32,000 veterans in California’s 25th Congressional District, Hill seeks to honor and memorialize more local wartime veteran experiences in the Library of Congress.

Hill will host a workshop on Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT in the Antelope Valley, Legacy Commons 930 E Ave Q-9, Palmdale, 93550 at a Veterans’ Forum hosted by her office.

This workshop will train volunteers who want to participate in recording video or audio interviews with veterans about their military service, as well as accepting submissions and conducting recordings on the spot with those ready to share oral histories.
