Thieves are stealing wallets while shoppers aren’t looking. They look for purses in shopping carts and when the shoppers turn their backs, the thieves reach in and steal a wallet.
An incident was reported on September 4 at a popular grocery store located on the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. Wallets were stolen from three different women’s purses and their credit cards were immediately used at the Target located on Golden Valley Road to purchase prepaid gift cards.
Detective Jason Jones of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Burglary/Theft Team warns women to “not leave their handbags unattended in shopping carts and especially not to leave them unzipped.”
Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspected wallet thieves.
Suspect #1: F/B, 25-35 yrs old, approx 190-220 lbs. She was wearing a red shirt and appeared to possibly have a tattoo on the inside of her left forearm.
Suspect #2: F/H, 25-35 yrs old, approx 180-200 lbs. She was wearing a blue/white flannel shirt.
Suspect #1 was seen leaving the location in a small red vehicle, possibly a Honda FIt or Toyota Matrix.
Anyone who may recognize either of the suspects, please contact Detective Jason Jones at (661)255-1121 Ext. 5811,
