Alexia Cina of Canyon Country was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a mother of six children in a head-on crash on Golden Valley Road on October 6, according to a news release from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Toxicology reports from Cina, age 21, revealed she had a blood-alcohol content of .21. The legal limit is .08.

Cina was charged with felony vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence, causing injury.

Cina was booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station jail with her bail set at $200,000.

On October 6, deputies responded to Golden Valley Road, just south of Valley Center Drive regarding a traffic collision.

A vehicle traveling south on Golden Valley Road crossed the center median and collided head-on into a car traveling northbound.

Katie Evans, a 37-year-old Saugus woman who was in the northbound car, was pronounced deceased by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel who responded to the scene.

Santa Clarita Valley Station traffic investigators responded to the scene and determined alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision.

    ?????

  2. Heartbreaking. She should’ve been charged with murder.

  3. Does anyone know how to contact the family? Wondering if we can help holding the newborns in ICU?

  4. Nena Guzmán says:

por una imprudencia, tan joven, que pena.

  5. I agree should have been murder. When you decide to drink and drive I think that you show intent. I also remember reading she had open containers in the car. Unfortunately many lives have been changed from 1 dumb decision

  6. Such a tragedy! That’s why there’s Uber..

  7. Sad all around But she knows the laws and she doesn’t get to take others lives without paying the price. That mom paid the ultimate sacrifice for this stupid decision of this girl. Now she must pay the uli

  8. She should pay the ultimate price. Life in prison .For every child that lost their mom ten Years times six. That’s fair.

  9. She had almost 3 times the amount of alcohol in her system…manslaughter is a joke. In this state she will get a slap on the wrist and very little or no jail time… compared what she put that family thru for the rest of all of their lives. And with the liberal government we have in CA I will gaurentee this will fall off her record after a few years like nothing happened ….with this kind of charge for total disreguared of the law and human life it is disgraceful…no wonder why DUIs are so prevalent…

  10. So sad for the family who lost the mother of all those children! So sad for the young lady who caused her death. That young lady is going to pay for the rest of her life. And she’s only 21 years old! The whole story is nothing but a huge tragedy for everyone involved!

  11. Willy Jay says:

Sometimes life is not fair or kind. There will be no winners here, just terrible pain for all those involved – Big terrible mistakes – The father and children will struggle in so many ways – GOD bless them – God forgive this young lady – Very Sad

  12. My heart aches for this young family who’s mother and wife was killed so tragically.
I don’t know the laws, but Azita should be charged with murder. She made the intoxicated decision to get behind the wheel of a machine that could kill. No one forced her to drink and drive. She chose, therefore she should face the ultimate consequence of being charged with murder.
What about the people she was drinking with? Are they partially responsible too?

  13. She was beyond drunk. Manslaughter? Ugh.

  14. Kristen Galvan felony vehicular manslaughter.

  15. It’s awful for all! Just awful! No words.

  16. Should have been 1st degree murder.. manslaughter will be a slap on the wrist compared to what she deserves. With Lyft and Uber there’s no excuse anymore for drinking and driving… so choosing to get behind the wheel, should be seen as intent.

  17. Now is the perfect time/opportunity for people of this community to contact their representatives and demand changes to the law(s) that apply to DUI’s. So many people are angered by this tragic accident, that should be the momentum to drive them to try and change the law(s).

  18. Travis Levy says:

This POS will get a slap on the wrist and why? It’s due to the weak laws we have and the Liberal nonsense we have in this state. Anyone that’s a liberal should not be commenting on this article. You voted these law makers into office. Liberals call for more gun control yet cars and alcohol kill more people a year. This is no different then a person getting drunk and stabbing or shooting someone. Taking a life is taking a life no matter how you see it. This is murder

  19. Dan says:

Certainly one of Santa Clarita’s most tragic stories of the year…possibly THE most tragic. The vast majority of the drunk-driver deaths around here (and probably most places) seem to take place after 10 PM. I do my best to always keep off the freeways after dark, especially toward midnight and early in the morning. I suggest that everyone avoid the most dangerous hours. And the freeways realignments that are scheduled to be taking place on the 5 Fwy FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS! are only going to make the problem worse. We’ve already seen some very bad accidents in the short time this has been going on. It can be difficult to navigate them sober, much less drunk. It seems they could have done a better job of executing this project.

  20. Yessy N Tonz says:

My condolences to the victims family and those innocent babies left with out a mommy

  21. Should be charged with murder.

  22. Ralph Green says:

Hope she gets life. Minimum sentance. Theirs no excuse for DUI today with Uber, Lyft or the good old adidas express. No excuse

  23. cBrown says:

Very sad, for all involved. One of the immediate things we can do as a community, is talk to our kids about driving responsibly. I remind my kids often on what responsibility it is to drive, they don’t drive yet, however I often point out the reckless drivers, and how to avoid them. I also remind them not to get in the vehicle of friends that might be under the influence and to persuade them into taking an uber or lyft. They often roll their eyes, however I know they listen. I also show them these stories, that are close to home, so they can see that unfortunately these things happen.
