Some 300 community leaders and supporters of the SCV Senior Center will gather in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Saturday evening, Feb. 27, for the annual SCV Senior Center Celebrity Waiter Dinner.

The event features elaborately decorated tables and guest costumes in line with their table game choice to match the overall event theme, “A Night of Fun and Games”. This year’s presenting sponsor is Comfort Keepers In-Home Care.

There will be a live auction featuring a number of trips and special event tickets, and this year the event has added proxy and online bidding for prospective buyers who will not be able to attend the actual event but will register in advance at the auction website. The live auction portion of the evening will be streaming live and provide prospective buyers the ability to view the event over the Internet.

It will be open to anyone with access to the Internet using a computer, smartphone or tablet, so prospective buyers will be able to register and place bids in real time. A link will be provided to gain access to the auction on the following websites: http://myscvcoa.org, http://www.scvcelebritywaiter.com or http://www.auctioneerguy.org. A detailed description of all of the auction items also will be posted at the site.

Bill Lively once again will serve as master of ceremonies, supported by co-chairs Vanessa Wilk and Brian Koegle. Only two table sponsorships are available before the dinner reaches a “sold-out” capacity of 30 tables.

In keeping with this year’s theme of “A Night of Fun and Games,” Auctioneer Curt Waite is working on a surprise game that will give all guests a chance to win a valuable prize. Dancing to a live band, live entertainment and waiter antics are all part of the evening. More than 35 “waiters” have signed up to compete for the Stanley Award, which goes to the waiter who garners the most dollars in scrip “tips” during the evening. Several waiters already have started pre-event fund-raising activities to boost their chances of being named the evening’s Favorite Waiter.

A limited number of premium tables are available now and the committee already is nearing its goal to sign up 30 sponsored tables before this year’s dinner. Table sponsorships are available at levels ranging from the $10,000 to $5,000, $3,500 $2,500 and $1,500, each seating 10 guests. Individual seats can be reserved for $150 each, which includes $50 in scrip, which can be used to “tip” the waiter. Sponsors can provide their own “celebrity” waiter or request the committee to provide a waiter.

Table sponsors select their own table theme, based on the Fun and Games overall event theme. So far, table sponsors have selected the games of golf, hunting, Monopoly, Clue, Operation, football, dodge ball, baseball, Mario Cart, Las Vegas/gaming, Amazing Race, Poker Dogs, Twister, Rodeo Clowns, Super Bowl and Dating Game. The table décor matches the theme, and most guests dress in costumes to complement their table’s theme, making Celebrity Waiter “one of the most fun events in town,” according to Koegle.

Online visitors can see photos of past events and comments on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/scvcelebritywaiter/?fref=ts. Guests and table sponsors can make purchases online and obtain further information at www.scvcelebritywaiter.com. Reservation forms are available online, with return instructions at the bottom. In addition, there is now an online payment button for individual ticket sales and table sponsorships. Last minute individual tickets or table sponsorships can be purchased at http://myscvcoa.org/events/celebrity-waiter-event/ on an as-available basis.
