If you’re bound for Vegas this weekend, or expecting visitors coming in from there, adjust your schedules.
All traffic on the I-15 at the California/ Nevada border is at a very slow crawl, after the complete closure of the north and southbound lanes by the crash of a big rig carrying ferric chloride earlier this morning.
The truck turned over and spilled its load –about 4,100 gallons of the corrosive – across traffic lanes.
The closure, which went into place at 9 a.m., is still causing a huge snarl for drivers. Only one lane is open in the northbound lanes.
No injuries were reported in the crash, but hazardous material squads are in the area and handling the cleanup. No estimates as to when the road will completely open have been posted.
