The Child & Family Center, in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Newhall will present “Empowered Families Workshops,” a series of three presentations for parents and caregivers presented by professionals from the Child & Family Center Prevention and Outreach team.
The workshops are free to all community members and will be held on three consecutive Sundays from 2-3:30 p.m. beginning Sunday, Nov. 10.
All workshops will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall, 24317 Newhall Ave., Newhall, CA 91321.
The topic of “Social Media” will be covered on Sunday, Nov. 10 and will provide insights about trends in social media and the impact on youth mental health.
The second presentation on Sunday, Nov. 17 is “Substance Abuse” with tips on how to talk to children and teens about addictive substances such as cannabis.
The third and final session will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24 and covers “Relationships,” which provides information to help youth develop and maintain healthy connections.
The Center’s Prevention and Outreach Program focuses on reducing the risk of unhealthy behaviors that can lead to substance abuse and violence within the community.
Services include prevention education at local schools, community outreach events and awareness activities that support youth and parents so they can become empowered to make positive choices.
