A Spring Valley, California woman was arrested and charged for evading and resisting arrest on southbound Interstate 5 in Valencia late Tuesday night after a pursuit by the California Highway Patrol, according to the CHP.
Adelquin Deguzman Torres, 43, described by the CHP as an Asian female with black hair and brown eyes, 5’2″ tall and weighing 160 lbs., was taken into custody by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and booked on misdemeanor charges of evading arrest and resisting arrest.
The CHP began their pursuit of Torres Tuesday night in El Cajon, where she allegedly was speeding. Altadena CHP units and eventually Newhall units were added to the pursuit as Torres drove north on Interstate 5.
Newhall CHP joined the pursuit at Roxford Street and additional units set up a spike strip just north of McBean Parkway.
Torres’ vehicle hit the spike strip and came to a stop just south of Valencia Boulevard, where she refused initial commands from officers to exit her vehicle.
“Officers approached the vehicle and the driver raised both hands above her head and slowly began to open the driver’s side door,” according to the CHP’s news release.
“As an officer began to take Torres into custody, she began actively resisting,” the release said. “Torres was taken into custody (at 10:23 p.m.) and subsequently booked at Santa Clarita Sheriff station on two misdemeanor charges.”
